GAA
The GAA primary school competition (Cumann na mBunscol) is split into two competitions annually. In line with club games and training, the 7 a-side All County Blitz begins just before Easter. A panel of 10 players are chosen to represent the school. Following on from this, the girls from 4th, 5th and 6th will be training for the Cumann na mBunscol 13 a-side competition (Corn Pheadar Ó Cearnaigh) which will begin after the Easter break. The children have been working extremely hard during training, which takes place over three days. As the weather improves, we hope to have more competitions in school which will include Go-Games amongst 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class.
Soccer
In recent years we have entered the Spar FAI 5 a side competition in Dundalk. We had great success in the competition and were able to bring 24 children from 4th, 5th, and 6th to the competition each year. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 the 2021 and 2022 competitions did not take place. Currently the girls in 5th and 6th class are taking part in a soccer coaching program with an FAI coach. At the end of the coaching program the girls will visit Drogheda United to see the grounds.
Basketball
Basketball has returned in full swing. We have Coach Ciarán, captain of the Drogheda Wolves national league team in every Thursday working through skill sessions with our pupils. Every Summer we compete in the Meath and Louth Primary School Blitz where all athletes get a chance to compete in a fun environment against players from other schools. We also have an afterschool club that we open up to anyone looking for an extra bit of training and fun.
